Fighting Walnut Flies: Sequential Assessment

Setup

Walnut flies lay their eggs in the husks of developing walnuts. The males attempt to "own" individual walnuts, because this increases their chances of mating with females who come to the walnuts to lay eggs.

In the scenarios on the following pages, you will play the part of a male walnut fly. In each game, the walnut is unoccupied. You arrive at the walnut at the same time as another male walnut fly. Which fly will be successful in gaining the walnut as his territory?

To simplify the scenario, the currency is energy units, instead of mating success.
