Mating Walnut Flies: Getting Started

Learning Objectives

  • Play a mating game in which you select the sex ratio and the male fly's copulation duration
  • Experiment to see how a male fly can improve his fertilization rate by changing his mating strategy
  • Explain the relationship between sex ratio and copulation duration.
  • Learn the similarities between hunting for mates and foraging for food
