RESEARCH INTERESTS

I’m broadly interested in the evolution of behaviors. In my M.S. research, I studied the mating system of the Asian lesser white-toothed shrew in Taiwan. It was the first study of Crocidurinae in subtropical area that presented both field and genetic data to look into their social and mating behaviors. Contrary to past presumption that they are monogamy, their social mating system was polygyny and genetic mating system was promiscuity. The discrepancy between theory and field data highlights the complicated interaction between animal evolutionary history and external environment. For my PhD research, I will look for the interface between behavior ecology and molecular evolution. I hope to study cause of behaviors and its consequences in genetic structure and evolution.
