I am a Masters student in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I am doing bioinformatic analysis of stop codon polymorphisms in Saccharomyces. In Saccharomyces, [PSI] acts as an evolutionary capacitor by facilitating the inframe conversion of 3′UTRs into coding sequences. I am looking for evidence of [PSI]-mediated genetic assimilation and for evidence of preadaptation in converted sequences.
