     -- Great book for desert species identification, such as flowers, reptiles, fish, insects, mammals, birds, trees, cacti, and other plants and animals.

Phillips, Steven J. and Patricia Wentworth Comus. A Natural History of the Sonoran Desert. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Press: Tucson, 2000. 
     -- Very detailed information about plants and animals of the Sonoran desert.  Also has very good information about the environment of the desert.

Tweit, Susan J. The Great Southwest Nature Factbook. Anchorage: Alaska Northwest Books, 1992.
-- This book has some very good information about the various native plant and animal species of the Sonoran Desert.  A good source to find out a little bit more about species the class is focusing on, or to find some new species to look at.
