I am investigating distortions in dN/dS at short time scales (Peterson & Masel 2009) by generating a likelihood framework to fit to data provided by collaborators. This will allow us to measure the evolutionary rates of genes of different ages, undistorted by the fact that young genes can only be observed on recent phylogenetic branches.
