I recently graduated with a double major in physics and mathematics, and am staying in the Masel lab as a research technician. I just completed a project on the causes of high intrinsic structural disorder encoded by overlapping reading frames in viruses, and biases in the frame in which new genes appear. I am now working on improving phylostratigraphy pipelines using HMMER, with a view to understanding long-term trends in protein evolution.
